new column...i need your help

i'm starting a new weekly post today called ______. that's where you come in, i can't decide on a name. i set up the poll below, let me know what you think! i will share with you the grooviest stores, shops & vendors that i've found.

[polldaddy poll=3223852]

i'm proud to begin this column with 1 of my very favorite finds, the new traditionalists. they create some of the most stunning, well crafted pieces of furniture i've seen in a  long time.

i'm excited to find a furniture company that embodies my design beliefs. each piece of furniture is handmade to order in Torrington, Connecticut.  the new traditionalists embody the philosophy Buy Well Once. "we're not in the business to make disposable furniture" says CEO Philip Erdoes. Their philosophy is apparent in every piece of furniture they design. Each is well thought out & made from sustainably harvested hardwood with hand-applied, water based finishes that are nontoxic. plus they are just so great to work with. i was able to get answers, catalogs & even adorable coasters simply by requesting catalog information from them, service like that is getting harder & harder to come by. their catalog is an array of beautiful drawings detailing the style & glamor or their furniture.

The New Traditionalists are a breath of fresh air.

i have such a busy day today! i'm so lucky to be so busy. thank you all for all of your support! it means the world to me!

xx, jamie

before & after

i've dreamed of having a pink front door since seeing annie selke of pine cone hill's amazing home renovation in house beautiful. the transformation she did is stunning. annie took an ordinary ranch style & upped the style quotient. the before had shutters that didn't fit or belong, windows that are much too small for the home, a cheesy powder blue & white color scheme. basically this modern ranch had a cottage look applied to it. annie removed the silly shutters & cheesy porch, she installed amazing windows & painted the outside a yummy brown. the pink front door is like the house's scarf, just a bit of color to add some punch. dreamy.

i love exterior transformations! i've been toying with the idea of making that a regular feature here. i see so many buildings around houston that have such amazing potential. hhmmmm...ideas;) have you seen any interesting exteriors or remodeled your home's exterior? i'd love to see pictures!

xx jamie

Jamie House Design is here!

I'm so excited to launch my new website for this business that I've been dreaming about for years. Please take a look around & be forgiving as many things are likely to change:)

Jamie House Design is a virtual interior design company. I've been an interior designer for 8 years, primarily working in the high-end residential interior design market. I also currently work for a few interior designers around Houston as needed, as well as offer my own local interior design services, but this site isn't about any of that! With Jamie House Design I'm able to work with clients all over the world without the additional travel & time expenses.

Virtual interior design means that I work with you via email, phone & Skype to design a room of your choosing, for you to implement yourself. I provide you with the design & knowledge to create the room of your dreams! Check around my site for more details!

Style File is my area to talk to you daily about different aspects of design & style, what's inspiring me & what projects I'm currently working on. I couldn't be more excited! I can't wait to get to know you. If you have a blog let me know so I can check it out as well!
