Nadine Before and After.

This project was completed a while ago and I forgot to share it with you! The before and afters are crazy. I have a special place in my heart for bungalows of course, since I live in a 1920's bungalow in the Houston Heights. It's important to me to keep the houses in our neighborhood well designed and fitting with the area. I only work with builders and homeowners that are committed to a high quality of life.

Look at that raised ceiling! Gorgeous. I could have moved right into this house. It's a two bedroom two bath with a dining and study at the front of the house. The layout is so good, since a great couple lives here now I won't share that, but trust it's great. Creole Design designs the additions for P&G Homes, I provide the interior & exterior details and selections.

Can you believe the exterior of this house before? I love improving the neighborhoods house by house! The neighbors were also happy to see this house redone as apparently there were some unsavory dealings going on before. Sidenote: This part of the Heights has many homes that have not been kept up mixed in with gorgeous homes that have been meticulously maintained.

Here's the after! I think it's the cutest house. I designed the concrete blocks to add a bit of contemporary keeping the house from being too sweet. I love combining traditional bungalow elements with contemporary features, keeps it modern while still respecting history.

The moldings and cabinet work is very important in my designs. Luckily P&G Homes has an excellent craftsman and they also value the millwork. My goal when designing with builders is to create spaces that look beautiful without furniture in them. The architecture of the space and how people will live in the home is always considered. Sometimes I think I'm a frustrated architect.

Posting before images like this always make me cringe. Nevertheless, here's the kitchen before. Obviously original cabinets, but not much else is original to the home. It's almost like the character had been removed (probably in the 80s).

Jamie House Design.

Raising the ceiling as much as possibly completely transforms this kitchen! The light in here is amazing. The cabinetry is beautiful. I want this kitchen in my house. My key to selecting paint colors without having a specific client or family in mind is to keep it neutral but not plain. As long as everything is pulled together it will be beautiful. I don't want to design bland homes just to appeal to everybody, thus appealing to nobody.

Yep that's the hall bath before....

I design cabinetry, selects paint colors, selects all fixtures, assists with floorplan layout, designs flooring and tile layouts and provides exterior paint colors and landscape design services to builders in the Houston area that are committed to building quality homes. Jamie House Design does not provide staging services.

The P&G Homes team creates beautiful homes that I love being a part of!

This Before and After is Bananas: Part II.

Here's the follow up to this post about a home I worked on with P&G Homes. I have good pics now! The floorplan of this house is really great for a family. There's a butler's pantry with a desk, there's wine storage in the dining, a wine fridge, a large kitchen with 2 places for barstools, 4 bedrooms, a giant utility room with tons of storage, an office right off the master bedroom, an additional built-in for girly things off the master bedroom, giant walk in closet and a huge master bath. I could move right in.

Everything was selected with a tight budget in mind. I think all of the plumbing fixtures were from Home Depot even. I try to use inexpensive tiles in more interesting/ upscale patterns and applications. The cabinetry is all job built.

I'll start with a before of a space if I have it, could be an in progress pic. I hate starting a post with a before picture b/c it's the one that shows up on everyones social media previews! It gets better, scroll just a bit to see the goodness.

BEFORE Exterior.

AFTER Exterior. Honestly I wanted the windows painted out a dark grey, but the house was under contract before we completed that and the new homeowners like it how it is.

BEFORE. Entry.

AFTER. Entry. The view as you walk in the front door.

BEFORE. Dining.

Looking at the front door and the dining area.

After built-ins in the dining room.

BEFORE. Living Room.

HUGE family living space. I desperately want to finish this room out, it could be so fab.

More of the new kitchen because I love it. I'd also love to style this up.

That backsplash tile is from Floor N Decor. I know right?! It's really marble & not a faux replica btw.

Spacious kitchen.

Who wouldn't love a utility this big?!! Unheard of in an older home.

Hall Bath, after obvs.

Entering the master suite the office is on the right and the bedroom is on the left.

BEFORE. Master Bedroom.

Master bedroom. Ceiling fans are an evil must have in Houston.

BEFORE. Master Closet.

AFTER. The cabinets were actually just painted and we added hardware. BIG difference.

BEFORE. Master Bath. As seen in my last post. 70s bathroom in tact. But we changed it.

AFTER. Master Bath.

BEFORE. Crazy jacuzzi tub.

AFTER. Shower and bathtub in the Master Bath.

Looking towards the bath entrance.

The hard part of speccing homes is not getting to furnish and decorate them. I see so much potential in this house. I'd love to get my hands on it. :) This project was in collaboration with P&G Homes

This Before and After is Bananas.

I do the selections and design decisions for a couple builders around town. This house is by P&G Homes. I love working with them because they rehab existing houses instead of tearing down and building townhomes.

This home is in the Meyerland area of Houston. It's near town, especially near the Houston Medical Center. It's a cute neighborhood known for the mid century homes. This home is a latter mid-century home. It is unassuming from the front, but the floorplan is spectacular. It's no surprise that this home has been snatched up before even going on the market.

Basically the house was gutted and rebuilt. The selections are neutral grays and lean towards transitional. The goal with builder homes is to appeal to a large audience. We can't appeal to everyone without appealing to no one though so I always have a person in mind when designing the homes. This home is for a young family, a bit with it and hip. They read magazines and stay current. They want the ease of having a home fixed up for them and the ability to add their personality to it later.

So here we go...before and afters. Some images were pulled from P&G's facebook page

The master bath in progress.

The master bath complete.

The master shower complete.

The complete comparison.

The main living area before.

The dining/ wine room after.

Nearly complete.

I'll share more when I get better pictures. These were all taken with phones. I always forget in the midst of working to snap shots, plus there are usually people all over and they frown on being in pictures. ;)

The hardest part for me in working with builders is leaving the space like this and not finishing it out. When I design I have a full vision complete to furniture and fabrics so not seeing it completed leaves a bit of a hole.
